Glaciers in Gilgit Baltistan

Due to climate change, in the year 2000, the ice-covered area was reduced to 42 km square, subsequently increasing the ice-covered area to 86.2 km square. The culture of Kalash is unique and amazing. The people of Kalash celebrate three main  festivals  in a year. 1-Chilam Joshi Festival (11th-15th May) Chilam Joshi Festival Celebration In this festival, the people of Kalash pray and give thanks to the almighty and celebrate the arrival of the spring season with new aspirations and hope.   They welcome all guests and visitors with an opening ceremony on the first day.   On the second day, the people of Kalash decorate their homes with different colors of flowers, and then the young boys and girls gather in a particular place where they sing songs and perform traditional dances. After the dance, the children visit a place where a person distributes goat milk to the children. Finally, at night, the young unmarried boys and girls select a life partner for themselves. Gilgit Baltistan Welcomes Spring with a centuries-old Festival.
