Kalash Valley Festivals

The culture of Kalash is unique and amazing. The people of Kalash celebrate three main festivals in a year.

1-Chilam Joshi Festival (11th-15th May)

In this festival, the people of Kalash pray and give thanks to the almighty and celebrate the arrival of the spring season with new aspirations and hope.
 
They welcome all guests and visitors with an opening ceremony on the first day.
 
On the second day, the people of Kalash decorate their homes with different colors of flowers, and then the young boys and girls gather in a particular place where they sing songs and perform traditional dances. After the dance, the children visit a place where a person distributes goat milk to the children. Finally, at night, the young unmarried boys and girls select a life partner for themselves. Tourists from different countries also participate in this festival.

A four-day Chilam Joshi festival will be held in the Kalash valley of Birir, Bumburate, and Rumbar. From the 11th to the 15th of May, the locals decorate their houses and the entry and exit points of villages with colorful flowers and fruits.
 
 The festival starts in the Rumbur Valley and then moves towards other villages in Kalash. The celebration of the Chilam Joshi festival highlights their rich culture, and the people of Kalash pray for the safety of the hard and corps of the community.

2- Uchoa o Utchal (19th to 20th August)

 
The highlights of this festival are to pray and give thanks to the Almighty for the blessing of natural fruit such as grapes and other ripe fruits. They used to prepare local wine using this grape.

3-Choimus (7th to 22nd December

 The Choimus festival is celebrated to welcome the new year. On the very first day of the Choimus Kalashi Pray, giving thanks to the Almighty for their bumper crops, fruits, and other eatable stores for winter. In winter, the region would be hit by cold winds and cover the area with a thick layer of snow. People enjoy the cold weather after scarifying animals in the name of the Almighty, and they rejoice with local grape juice (wine), dancing and singing traditional songs together and enjoying every moment of the festival.

On the last day of the festival, people gathered in a particular place to pray for the safety of their fields and animals before going to their fields.

I wish you could observe how they created the Omniyat drone show, exhibitions, and performances. This was incredibly magnificent and majestic. We were astounded to see Omniyat lighting up the sky in Palm Dubai.
