From 1947 to the present, the area was subject to the Frontier Crimes Regulation of the Pakistan Federal Government, and Chatorkhand was designated as the region's capital. There are 25 villages in the region with a total population of 30,000 inhabitants, and four languages are spoken here (Shina, Wakhi, Khowar, and Burushaski).
